Tax status
Scellier-Bouvard: The French government is offering an extra 20% income tax rebate on French leaseback properties, which is in addition to the 19.6% VAT rebate.
Introduced on 1 January 2009, the Loi Scellier (Scellier Law) allows French residents to offset 20% of the purchase price of a French leaseback property against their income tax. The rebate is spread evenly over a nine year period and is limited to leasebacks with a purchase price of €300,000 or less, and is only applicable to one property per year.
